2014 Chardonnay Gran Reserva

The fruit was whole-bunch pressed into two new French oak barrels then matured for 18 months on stirred leaves. It's a rich and creamy, buttery and honeyed style, lush in ripe pawpaw, honeydew melon and guava fruit characters accentuated by cinnamon spice and some cedary elements.

Bold and brash, it does the job well here, the core of limey acidity to the task and the wine still feeling perky with near 10 years on the dial. It's good for those seeking the old school, good school, and done well.
