This wine is crafted from grapes sourced from a single vineyard in Langhorne Creek, a region renowned for producing exceptional Australian Malbec. The base wine was matured for more than two years in seasoned French barriques before undergoing secondary fermentation, followed by tirage and a further 15 months of bottle ageing. Upon disgorgement, the wine was left completely dry with zero dosage.
It presents an intense purple hue, with expressive aromas of lavender and lilac complemented by ripe cherry and plum fruit. Layers of dark chocolate and delicate spice, including clove and cinnamon, add complexity. The palate is creamy and refined, with a fine, persistent bead providing freshness and finesse. Silky tannins and a dry elegant finish lead to a long, lingering fruit-driven aftertaste.
The wine’s elegance reflects the cooler-than-average 2023 vintage, when slower ripening preserved natural acidity and enhanced the freshness of the fruit and the definition of its subtle spice characters.
